I did Henry the art doll for a Art doll swap in Treasurearttrends Yahoo group. Could not find a skeleton stamp in a art doll size, so I used the Micheal DeMings stamp and just cut the head, then drew out the arms and legs on white card stock. The body is an ATC (part of requirements for the swap) Had fun, but need lots of work on my drawing skills. LOL

Back of Chunky house

Finally decided what to do with the back of my House for my swap (check below for front). The background paper is sprayed with Color Mists from Aileens Outside the Margins. Then I used white Webbing spray after the colormists dried. Stamped with Distressed ink. Cut out the heart with my sizzix (haven't used that in a LOOOONG time, then added graphics torn papers and napkins. 16 are completed have to finish the rest. 34 in all. Better get my buns in gear cause they are due the 15th.

Marble background ATC

Wanted to show the marbled background Tech. Without covering it up with a image so added a Transparency. Not sure if I would do this technique again, Was very messy, Cause I used shaving cream and acrylics. Has to be a easier way but that is what I had on hand.

House Chunky book Swap

This is where my muse took me. I had it all drawn out to add little rooms, with my fish, birds, flowers, and adopted cat. But my muse had other ideas. Ok, so here is the explanation on how this came about. I live in Central CA. where wine is king. Hence, the grape printed napkin. My Grandchildren are the center of my universe, so this little one reminded me of one of them. (couldn't fit all 14 on one 3x7 page.)

Now I just have to come up with the chunky part to add to it and its good to go. I hope. LOL

Metal Tape Embossing

The first one I scanned alone, the others I scanned together. Hence, the difference in size. These are ATC's for a metal tape swap. I am not a dry emboss person, so this was my first attempt. Its been awhile since I have posted. Life is crazy in the summer months, with painting the house, redoing bedding in flower gardens. Can't seem to keep up with my art these days, but I do have a few things to share. I will get them posted ASAP.

Tagging is a blog thing where you tag a fellow blogger to post 7 things about themselves. So here goes.

1. Favorite time of day for me is early morning. Its when I get the most done in my day. Especially in the summer months, because it gets so hot here in the afternoon.

2. Art is my favorite past time. I would love to own my own studio where I can have classes and play all day.

3. I love to read. Give me a good book and a corner and I will be good for the rest of the day.

4. I love flowers and like to garden WHEN its cool out. I want a garden that has little room areas around the yard where you can sit and rest and just take in nature. I have one wall that I am thinking of taking a paintbrush to and doing a mural.

5. I am a shopaholic when it comes to art supplies, like all artists and crafters are. If I don't have it handy then I need to order it. Need to get out of that habit and work with found objects more.

6. I have a dream to go to Mexico and take a class with Micheal Deming. He does such fun work and I want to go on one of his junk hunts down there. Wouldn't that be fun? YES it would for me.

7. I love to travel, hubby is a stay at home, so we don't go out much. I want to go to swap meets, antique shops, junk stores, just spend a month and collect all types of fun finds to work with. Told you I was a shopaholic. LOL

On a personal note, I find it hard to communicate with people I don't know, in a group inviorment. Takes me awhile to warm up and have a conversation. Guess thats # 8. So I will go find someone to tag now. Thanks Charleen for the tag. LOL

Monoprinting Fun

OK, if you go to Sherreartzone Blog. Link is on the left, you can get the scoop on our swap and what we are doing with how to's. This is the first step in our monoprint paper Quilt swap. The instructions are in the May/June issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. I love this magazine. So much info and fun lessons. These are two of the many I printed using ink, brayer, and I used a 12x12 tile to put the ink on for printing. I will post the finished photos when I add my papers. and stitching.

Fabric Paper

Spent the day yesterday Making Fabric papers.

I am doing a Fabric Paper Quilt swap in my Arttechniqnics Yahoo group. I have never done this before so its a learning experience in progress. I will post the results as I go along. The Idea for this was from an articil in Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, May/June issue.
I started out with Muslin fabric and cut them into managable pieces. Then I used regular white glue deluted with water and sponge brushed that on to the muslin. Next I took white tissue paper, torn into pieces and glued them onto the fabric till it was covered. Added more glue. Next took papers in the color I was working in and torn book pages, colored tissue and textured papers and added those. Then another layer of glue and Tissue and glue again. Messy but fun. Lastly I used acrylic paints, pearl ex powders, Acrylic inks and painted whole thing. Let it dry over night then stamped with St

Staz-on inks and used paint pens for free hand sqiggles.

Ever run into a road block with art?

This one was one of those "How the heck do I

do this???" In my Arttechniquesact group, Our AOM

(artist of the month) is Anne Bagby. We where to try her style

in an ATC. I am a Vintage style person and this is NOT close to my style so I went way out of the box to come up with this.

AB has a article in Summerset Studio this month and I got the magazine and also, one of the gals in the group took a class and said Ab works in acrylics with Deli paper and home made stamps. (Thanks Faye) That was a big help, because I never heard of Anne Bagby before this.

This is a 5x5 deco page done for Sandi in my Art Deco group. We have a nature frendly yard and feeders. One of the gals in one of my MANY Groups, has been working with bird themes. When I say this picture the bell went off for the Blue deco I was to work in. Hope she likes it. The shapes are color samples from Lowe's. Just love when the put out free art supplies. ;o)

Ok, Now I have to finish a Green deco and pack to head to Arizona for the weekend. Taking my journal and camera for lots of inspiration.

I just had to share this picture that DH took of our lilac tree and if you look in the bottom center of the tree, you will see baby hummingbirds that are no bigger than a large moth. Hubby did the zoom thing, and got this shot. Soooo Cute. OK, I have to edit this one. They are not hummers. They are Large MOTHS. LOL Hubby found this out at work and on the internet. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing???

The background was done with Deli wrap and Color Mists, torn patterned paper and napkins. I love the colors of these color mists, and they are so easy to work with. Just spray. How easy is that? I did this for a Princess Fairy Diary Fat book we are doing in

The Little fairy, (side of Page) on the top page is a blank tag, for diary entries. Top page is the front, and

the bottom page is the back of the page. This will be bound into a book by our hostess Keri.

The hearts are covered in glitter and the wings on the big fairy is also outlined in glitter. Didn't show up in the scan.

Garden Letter

Did this Collage on a wood letter. I sanded, then used gesso to seal the wood. I stamped with embossing ink and used UTEE heated with a heat tool. Then used acrylic paints and Glazes. Added images of fairies, torn papers, and paper napkins a little stamping with distress ink. Really happy with the way it turned out.

This is my interpretation of Lynne Perella. Her colors are bold and bright. This is as bright as I could get with the paints I had. Perella's brush strokes are freer (think thats how its spelled. I need to loosen up a bit. Maybe a glass of wine before I start would help? Sounds good to me.

Demeng inspired Wisdom shrine

Background is painted with acrylic Paints. Stenciled Numbers then added graphics and Painted clear Punchinella (sequin waste) with green acrylic and glued down.

Geisha ATC

ATC's using Alcohol inks and Transparency. I printed the bird and butterfly onto a Transparency. Let dry overnight. The next day I added the AI and let dry. I used cold press watercolor paper and stamped image to that, glued down my transparency, then added images.

Matchbox shrine

This is my first Shrine. I started with Making a Matchbox
sized box then went from there. Used printed graphics from
my computer to embellish as well as cover the box. Also
highlighted with acrylic copper paint in a dry brush method. I
was very happy with the results.

Background ATC

Study in Background techniques for Art techniques Yahoo Group. I made 60 ATC's for a swap.

How I made this is, I used Acrylic Paints 3 colors and randomly brushed them on to matboard. Then took Goldens Tar Gel and mixed Liquitex bronze metallic into the gel and with a plastic fork just drizzled it over the background colors. Let Dry

Then one part Goldens clear Glaze mixed with one part Burnt umber, Brushed over entire piece then wiped off excess. Last step, I used Liquitex Acrylic ACRA Gold Deep and dry brushed lightly in random areas.

The Tar Gel gives great Texture to any background.

This is my second ATP only on this one I used a old CD. I painted this with metallic acrylic, let dry. I stamped the image with Staz-on ink, let dry, then used the same UTEE process as Below. Added charm and pin on back.

You ask , "What is an ATP"? Its a Artist Trading Pin. This is my first attempt. I used Chipboard for my backing, then painted using acrylic paints. Torn paper in the upper left corner The Image is from http://www.tentwostudios.com/ Lisa's Edwardian Beauties image Collection CD. I stamped and edged with Staz-on ink. Let dry completely then used clear ink pad over the piece then added UTEE heated with my heat gun. 3 layers of UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) While piece was still warm I punched a whole in corner using a small whole punch and added fibers. Glued pin back to the back side using E6000 glue.

that were so much fun to do. I haven't worked in this small a scale and thought I would give it a try. Cutting the squares then looking at my size canvas I had to work with was very challenging to start with, but it ended up being lots of fun.

Polyclay Charms

I made these for a swap using polyamer clay. I don't own a pasta machine so I have a designated rolling pin for clay. Conditioned and rolled out the clay to 1/4 " thick, (used transparent colored clay) Then cut them out with a cutter, stamped them with a deep impressioned stamp. then added my holes for the jump rings and baked. when cool, I used liquid clay and Powdered pearls to color, Made sure my holes didn't clog up and rebaked them. Antiqued and varnished with high gloss varnish. Just need to add my

Boy life is busy

Things have been crazy with the long weekend and end of summer coming up so fast.
I finished a collage RR and I'm starting another. Still have one on the road, and can't wait to see the finished results. I will post the one that came home as soon as I get a picture of it.

I just finished two Scrapbook spreads for a Christmas gift for a Child at MACS. Please take a second to check out their web site. Homemade cards and gifts are always welcome and it helps these Children to know, someone else cares. Also, a prayer always helps.

This is a 6x8 Collage. I painted the background with Acrylic paint and glazes. I then added torn scrapbook paper with written words and paper napkins. Added Graphics, and texture with Texture Magic and Acrylic paint. Then stamped leaves. I did this collage on canvas panel.

I haven't done much in the studio for the past few days cause the heat in CA is at record breaking Temperatures. Not easy to concentrate when your having heat stroke. LOL
Anyway, Its going to be a cool 110 today so think I will try to get something going. A day without art is a day lost. My own little quote for the day. ;o)

Study in Color

This is a lesson for Collage Explorations Group.
The lesson is a series of collages in color. This one is Monochromatic. I Traced a rose out of a coloring book, then used one color of Acrylic paint (purple). I also used drywall tape for texture. I mixed some texture Magic into the color, Layed the drywall tape on to the painting, smeared with a pallet knife and removed the drywall tape before the paint dried.

I worked on a RED ON RED Deco today. This is for Jan in my Yahoo Deco group. I am please with the way this came out, but it didn't scan well. The background is torn paper and Velvet that I embossed with a rose stamp. You can't see the embossing in this photo but it turned out well I think.

This child just called to me to help her in some way. She looks kind of sad. So I thought she should have wings and then she could just fly and be happy. A week of crazyness

DH was home last week and we worked in the yard. Did I mention it was 105-108 all week. I dread his retirement in two years, cause he is NOT a couch potato. LOL Anyway, we redid our pond, put a watering system in one side of the yard. And he also fixed the electrical in the house. Thank goodness he went back to work Monday, so its rest and back to Art for me. Yippeee!!
